On the third Friday of every month, the Dallas Museum of Art stays open until midnight, so you have plenty of extra time to explore the space.  The museum’s Late Night provides an enriching experience for guests of all ages.

Each month, this event gives visitors a chance to enjoy concerts, film screenings, readings, family programming, and other activities for the enthusiastic museum-goer.

Here is a rundown of some of the things you can expect to see during the next Late Night event on July 16:

After Hours Music Showcase: This month, you can enjoy a tribal folk rock performance by KatsüK.

Featured Performer: Dance to the reggae and “worldbeat” sounds of Watusi

Creativity Challenges: Guests will be given a specified amount of time and materials in order to create works inspired by museum art pieces.

Gallery Performances: Take a walk through the museum to the sounds of the ukulele, played by Mark Levine and Don Aspromonte.

The schedule of activities begins at 6:00 pm.  Tickets cost $10 or less, and admission is free for DMA members and children under the age of 12.  Some programs require an additional ticket, but Late Night activities are usually included in the price of general admission.

New Poll: Paying for Peanuts?

Passenger oxygen masks shown deployed onboard ...

Airlines soon to charge for Oxygen supply?

United charging for using the bathroom? Come on! That’s getting a little carried away!

Are you a frequent flyer? How do you feel about all the changes and charges airlines are making these days? I wonder if we should expect to pay for the oxygen before too long!

Just recently I paid $7 on Delta for a box of cheese and crackers! I remember the days when you expected a hot meal to be served on many lengthy flights. Oh how the times have changed!

Do you have a preferred airline? Who gives the best service? Tell us about it here and then share whether or not you pay for the peanuts on the new poll!

Who is Ali with now?...

And I’m not talking about in a good way! Have you been watching The Bachelorette this season?

I’ve only been a fan for a few years, but now this guy named Reality Steve is ruining every season for me. Just when I think it’s getting really good and all heated up, I seem to let my curiosity get the better of me and I end up reading about the ending. I will keep my composure and not let this guy have it! Or should I?

According to Bachelorette Fans, Ali goes home… Are you tempted to read? To click or not to click, that is the question!?! What will you do? Continue to tune in every Monday night as planned? As for me, I will be watching with my DVR so I can skip ahead!

Does Reality Steve need a “reality” check? You decide!

Is the Sun Our Enemy?

Applying sunscreen

Always apply sunscreen before heading out!

Do you think you know all there is to know about being prepared for the Sun’s rays? As Summer arrives, it’s time to turn our eyes out of the direct sunlight and get caught up on some valuable information about protecting our skin while outside and by the pool especially.

Keep in mind that ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B rays (UVA and UVB rays) damage your skin no matter what – even if you don’t get a sunburn.

Too much exposure in the sun leads to:

  • wrinkles
  • skin cancer
  • various skin conditions

Did you know that being fair skinned puts you at a higher risk for skin cancer? As well, so does having light-colored eyes. Who knew? I certainly didn’t!

See the Full List and Get Tips on Skin Cancer Prevention!

What level of sunscreen or sunblock do you use? This weekend I used a 12!
